Aden International Airport Resumes Operations Following Missile Attack

Aden International Airport resumed flight operations on Thursday, just one day after the facility was targeted by a series of ballistic missile strikes attributed to Houthi militias.

A navigation official confirmed that specialized technical teams successfully repaired the damage sustained by the airport’s runway during Wednesday’s assault. The restoration of the infrastructure has allowed for the immediate normalization of aviation services and the resumption of scheduled flights.

The Yemeni Ministry of Transport reported that the Houthi militia launched two consecutive ballistic missile attacks on the airport on Wednesday. This incident marks the sixth such strike on the facility within a few days, a pattern of escalation that the ministry described as a grave threat to both civil aviation safety and the lives of civilians.

The ministry has formally held the Houthi militia entirely responsible for these hostilities and their broader consequences. Officials have called upon the international community and relevant United Nations bodies, particularly the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), to issue a clear and unequivocal condemnation of these violations.

Furthermore, the government has urged an urgent and decisive international response to halt these repeated assaults. Authorities emphasized that airports and civilian infrastructure must be protected as vital facilities, noting that such protections are explicitly guaranteed under international humanitarian law.
