Yemeni Journalists Syndicate Demands Release of Detained Journalists in Aden and Taiz

The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate has issued a formal demand for the immediate release of two journalists, Mohammed Al-Numan and Yazid Al-Faqih, who were recently detained in the cities of Aden and Taiz.

According to a report received by the syndicate on Thursday, Mohammed Al-Numan was taken into custody in Aden on Tuesday. Subsequently, Yazid Al-Faqih was detained in Taiz on Wednesday, reportedly as a direct consequence of his public expression of solidarity with his colleague.

The syndicate has expressed its full support for the two journalists and has called upon the government to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding these arrests. The organization further urged authorities to halt the practice of pursuing and detaining media professionals outside the established legal framework.

In its statement, the syndicate emphasized that all matters related to publishing and freedom of expression must be handled strictly in accordance with the law. It underscored the necessity of protecting press freedom, ensuring that journalists can perform their professional duties without the threat of intimidation or systemic restriction.
