Tribal Conflict in Marib and Shabwa Escalates with Heavy Weaponry
Violent armed clashes have erupted between the Al-Butahif tribe in Marib and the Al-Muslamani tribe of Bani Harith in Shabwa, marking a significant and unprecedented escalation in long-standing tribal hostilities.
Tribal sources reported that the confrontation intensified in the Al-Farsha region, located in the lower reaches of Wadi Harib in Marib province. The outbreak of violence followed a strike by an explosive-laden unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), allegedly deployed by the Al-Muslamani tribe, which targeted residential dwellings belonging to the Al-Butahif tribe.
This escalation reportedly stems from prior grievances, as the Al-Muslamani tribe accused the Al-Butahif faction of targeting a residential home in Shabwa province with tank fire, an attack that reportedly resulted in casualties.
The conflict has drawn widespread concern due to the nature of the weaponry involved, which observers describe as an alarming development in regional tribal disputes. For the first time, combatants are utilizing heavy military hardware, including battle tanks, tactical drones, and Katyusha rocket systems, significantly increasing the risk of further instability and the potential expansion of the conflict zone.
