Coalition Reaffirms Support for Yemeni Government and Commitment to Saudi Security
The official spokesperson for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, has reaffirmed the command's commitment to providing operational support to the Yemeni Armed Forces and assisting the Yemeni government in restoring state institutions and ending Houthi control.
Al-Maliki characterized the actions perpetrated by the Houthi militia against civilians—including forced displacement, the weaponization of hunger, child recruitment, and the appropriation of national resources—as severe violations that have significantly exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Yemen over the past several years.
Addressing regional security concerns, Al-Maliki noted that ongoing attempts by the Houthi militia to target Saudi Arabian territory, alongside threats posed to maritime traffic in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, necessitate continued defensive measures to deter aggression and safeguard the Kingdom’s national security.
The spokesperson emphasized Saudi Arabia's inherent right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens and residents, reiterating that the Coalition remains steadfast in its support for the Yemeni state until full stability and institutional integrity are restored.
Furthermore, Al-Maliki underscored the critical link between the security of maritime navigation in the Red Sea and broader international stability. He stated that threats to shipping lanes in the region pose a direct risk to global trade and the economic interests of the international community.
