Nine Dead in Horrific Collision Following Armed Dispute in Yemen's Amran
Nine individuals, including several medics, perished in a devastating collision in the Harf Sufyan district of Amran Governorate, a region under Houthi militia control. The fatal incident occurred in the aftermath of an armed dispute between two cousins.
Local sources reported that an altercation erupted between Naji Shilh and his cousin, Manaa Shilh, escalating to an exchange of gunfire that left both men wounded. Subsequently, several members of the Al-Harshan family, identified as Adnan Ali Harshan and Hashem Hamid Harshan, along with Mohammed Shilh (brother of the injured Manaa Shilh) and Ahmed Yahya Shilh, rushed to the scene to provide aid to the injured.
As the medics were transporting the wounded, their vehicle was involved in a violent collision in the Al-Muraaba area, north of Harf Sufyan city. The crash occurred with a vehicle carrying Saddam Hussein Far' and his cousin, Taha Qaid Mohammed Far'. The impact resulted in the complete combustion of both vehicles, tragically consuming all occupants.
According to the sources, the collision claimed the lives of everyone inside both vehicles. An additional fatality, Nabil Shaddad from Bani Shaddad, brought the total death toll to nine. The deceased were identified as Naji Shilh, Manaa Shilh, Mohammed Shilh, Ahmed Yahya Shilh, Adnan Ali Harshan, Hashem Hamid Harshan, Saddam Hussein Far', Taha Qaid Mohammed Far', and Nabil Shaddad.
This incident underscores a concerning rise in traffic accident fatalities across Yemen. The deteriorating condition of roadways and a lack of effective traffic safety measures are exacerbating human and material losses at an unprecedented rate.
