Two Civilians Killed in Houthi Explosive Device Blast in Taiz

Two civilians were killed on Tuesday evening when an explosive device, allegedly planted by Houthi militia, detonated in the Mafraq Yafras area of Jabal Habashi district, located in the southwestern governorate of Taiz.

Local sources reported that the improvised explosive device struck a motorcycle as it passed near a school in the Mafraq Yafras sector. The force of the blast resulted in the immediate death of both individuals and the complete incineration of their remains.

Residents in the vicinity were unable to provide immediate assistance due to the severity of the explosion and the dangerous nature of the site. As of late Tuesday, the bodies remained at the scene on the paved road, prompting urgent appeals for recovery efforts.

Community members have called upon the Red Crescent and relevant authorities to intervene promptly to retrieve the victims' remains. Furthermore, residents are demanding immediate action to secure the area and clear any additional mines or explosive devices that may have been planted by the militia, posing an ongoing threat to civilian transit.
