Yemen’s National Defense Council Declares General Mobilization and Issues Security Warnings

Yemen's National Defense Council has formally approved executive measures for a general mobilization and issued a stern warning to citizens residing in Houthi-controlled territories to avoid proximity to militia military installations, including weapon depots, command centers, and supply lines.

During a meeting held on Tuesday, the Council finalized the operational framework for the general mobilization, ensuring that these measures will be implemented through institutional mechanisms in accordance with the national constitution and existing laws. This follows the recent parliamentary approval of the mobilization decree, which comes amid intensifying military confrontations across multiple fronts.

The Council praised the operational efficiency and resilience of the armed forces and popular resistance units, noting their recent successes in degrading Houthi military capabilities. Officials emphasized that the state remains committed to its constitutional duty to protect citizens, neutralize threats, and restore sovereignty over all Yemeni territories.

A primary concern addressed by the Council was the Houthi militia’s utilization of advanced military technology, including surface-to-air missiles and cruise missiles. The Council warned that such actions pose a grave threat to regional aviation, civilian air traffic, and humanitarian aid flights, and called upon the international community to take decisive action to interdict the flow of weapons and military expertise to the group.

To ensure civilian safety, the Council urged residents in Houthi-held areas to report any suspicious military movements or infrastructure developments through official channels. The government reiterated its commitment to humanitarian efforts, pledging continued support for displaced persons and the families of those affected by the conflict, while calling on international donors to increase assistance to address the escalating humanitarian crisis.
