Commercial Tanker Struck by Projectile Off the Coast of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia

A commercial tanker sustained a direct hit from an unidentified projectile while transiting the Red Sea, approximately 63 nautical miles west of the Saudi Arabian port city of Yanbu.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that the strike triggered a fire on the vessel’s main deck. According to a statement issued by the organization, which cited the vessel’s security officer, the crew managed to contain the situation, and no injuries were reported among the personnel on board.

Authorities have confirmed that there are currently no indications of structural instability, fuel leaks, or environmental damage resulting from the impact. The vessel remains under assessment as officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the security incident.

In response to the attack, the UKMTO has issued a formal advisory to all maritime traffic operating in the vicinity, urging vessels to exercise extreme caution and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
