Tribal Clashes in Shabwah Leave One Dead, Several Injured

Renewed tribal confrontations between factions of the Al 'Adiyu Al-Luqmaish in the Habān district of Shabwah Governorate have resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, including women, escalating a long-standing tribal feud. The clashes, now in their second consecutive day, have prompted widespread calls for immediate intervention by local authorities and the security committee to cease the violence.

Local sources indicated that the fighting, which initially erupted yesterday, reignited in the Khobar Al-Luqmaish area on Sunday evening and Monday morning following the death of Ahmed Saeed bin 'Adiyu Al-Qumayshi. He succumbed to severe injuries sustained during previous confrontations between members of the Al 'Adiyu clan. The sources reported the use of medium and heavy weaponry in the engagements, raising concerns about a potential escalation and further casualties, particularly as the clashes occurred near populated residences.

In parallel, tribal sources confirmed the arrival of tribal delegations at the Al-Bard Station in Khobar Al-Luqmaish. These delegations are preparing to move towards the Al 'Adiyu territories in an effort to mediate and halt the intermittent fighting.

A precise casualty count for the ongoing confrontations remains unconfirmed. However, local sources reported that Muqbil bin Nasser bin Saleh bin Hamad bin Hussein sustained injuries. This follows an earlier incident where three individuals, including two women, were wounded. Yesterday, initial reports confirmed the severe injury of Ahmed Saeed bin 'Adiyu before his subsequent death, along with injuries to two women from the Al Shībah family, one of whom is in critical condition and reportedly suffered a leg amputation.

The renewed violence has coincided with urgent appeals from activists and tribal elders in Shabwah. They implore the local authority, the security committee, and tribal leaders to take swift action to separate the warring factions, enforce a ceasefire, and disarm heavy weapons. Activists and elders have also urged tribal delegations from Shabwah to proceed to Khobar Al-Luqmaish, establish a presence between the conflicting parties, and secure commitments to cease hostilities and refrain from targeting homes, paving the way for conflict resolution through tribal customs and relevant authorities.
