Houthi Order Forces Educators Back to Teaching in Ibb, Exempts Loyalists

Hundreds of veteran educational supervisors and administrators in Ibb province have been ordered by the Houthi-controlled Education Office to return to teaching roles, with threats of dismissal or punitive measures for non-compliance.

Sources within the education sector revealed that the directive targets experienced personnel who have dedicated decades to education, holding various administrative and supervisory positions, including school principalships, department heads, and inspection roles at district and provincial levels. Many of these individuals are nearing retirement age.

The Houthi administration's actions have been characterized by alleged discrimination. Educational supervisors, administrators, and teachers not affiliated with the militia have been compelled to resume teaching duties. Conversely, individuals and families loyal to the militia, particularly those from Hashemite families, have reportedly been exempted from this requirement.

This development occurs amidst severe living and humanitarian conditions faced by education sector employees. Years of salary disruptions and economic decline have exacerbated dissatisfaction among educators in Ibb province.
