Houthi Militia Continues Detention of Tribal Leader in Dhamar

The Houthi militia has continued to hold a prominent tribal leader in the central Yemeni governorate of Dhamar in arbitrary detention for more than a week.

Tribal sources report that Houthi elements abducted Sheikh Sadiq Ahmed Saeed Al-Rajhi in the city of Dhamar early last week. The militia has failed to provide any formal charges or legal justification for the detention, keeping the Sheikh confined within one of its local detention centers.

In response to the abduction, relatives and local tribal elders have issued formal demands for the militia to disclose the reasons behind the arrest and to secure his immediate release. The tribal representatives have warned of potential escalation if the militia refuses to grant the Sheikh his freedom.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of systematic violations perpetrated by the Houthi militia against tribal leaders and prominent figures in areas under their control. The ongoing detention highlights the tenuous security situation for those who maintain influence outside of the militia's direct hierarchy.
