Yemen Mines Project Destroys 1,861 Houthi Landmines in Midi

Yemen's demining project, Masam, has successfully neutralized 1,861 landmines and war remnants in the Midi district of Hajjah governorate, northwestern Yemen. This marks the second such operation conducted by the project in the district within a five-day period.

According to a statement released by the project, the operation, carried out by Masam Team 39, involved the destruction of 316 mortar bombs (40mm), 1,239 rounds (20mm), 169 artillery shells (57mm), 69 anti-tank mines, 18 Katyusha rockets, 45 rounds (23mm), and 5 artillery shells (122mm).

The statement further indicated that this recent operation has increased the total number of war materials destroyed in the Midi district to 6,002 items. Since commencing operations in Midi in September 2025, Masam teams have cleared and removed a total of 11,366 mines, explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance.

Across all its operational areas in Yemen since July 2018, Masam has reported the clearance and removal of 583,513 items. This comprehensive figure includes 159,982 anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, 414,877 pieces of unexploded ordnance, and 8,654 explosive devices.
