Houthis Claim Drone Strike on Najran Airport

The Iran-backed Houthi militia announced on Tuesday that it targeted Najran Regional Airport in southern Saudi Arabia with an explosive-laden drone. This escalation signifies the militia's persistent efforts to threaten regional security and stability by directly targeting civilian and vital infrastructure.

Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthi militia, claimed the suicide attack targeted what he described as a "sensitive target" within the airport. He justified the assault by citing alleged aerial violations, a recurring justification the group habitually employs to legitimize its operations and evade peace requirements and imposed humanitarian and political commitments.

This latest military escalation risks undermining regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation and peace in Yemen. The attack has drawn widespread condemnation both domestically and internationally, with observers rejecting the militia's intransigence and its adherence to Iran's disruptive regional agenda. The group continues to divert the nation's resources and plundered wealth to finance its drone program, disregarding the severe humanitarian and economic suffering endured by the Yemeni people.
