Al Jawf Residents Protest Houthi-Controlled Security Over Murder Allegations

Residents of Bart Al-Anan in Al Jawf Governorate, a Houthi-controlled area, have established a protest camp in front of the Zam'an security administration in Al Marashi district, demanding the handover of an individual accused of murdering Abdullah Al-Barzi.

The protest follows a commercial strike and market closures in Bart Al-Anan and Bart Al-Marashi, initiated by traders the previous day. The demonstrations were prompted by the killing of Al-Barzi by a Houthi element identified as Abdulsalam Ja'adar, an incident that has generated widespread discontent among the local population.

Protesters have affirmed their commitment to continue the sit-in until their demands are met. Foremost among these is the transfer of the accused to the competent authorities for legal prosecution and the provision of justice for the victim's family.

The resort to peaceful protest marks a new phase in the ongoing demonstrations, which initially involved market closures. These actions are occurring amidst tribal and community calls for swift justice and to prevent perpetrators from evading accountability.
