Elderly Woman Injured in Houthi Land Grab Attempt in Raymah
An elderly woman sustained severe injuries and fell into a coma after being assaulted by escorts of a Houthi leader during an attempted land grab and excavation of a historic cemetery in Raymah Governorate.
Local sources reported that the Houthi leader, Faris Rub'a, oversaw a campaign aimed at seizing control of the cemetery located in Wadi Ja'irah, Al-Salafiyah district. The victim, Fatima Ali Ali Al-Wathn, who has hearing and speech impairments, was reportedly attacked while attempting to prevent the encroachment and demolition.
According to the sources, the Houthi leader's escorts assaulted the woman by striking her with rifle butts before throwing her from a height. This resulted in severe bleeding, leading to her current comatose state. She remains under intensive care at a hospital in Ma'bar, with her health condition reportedly deteriorating.
The incident followed a series of abductions carried out by the militia, targeting the victim's husband, her brother, and another individual. These detentions were reportedly intended to clear the area and facilitate the excavation of the cemetery using heavy machinery, under heavy guard.
The incident has sparked widespread indignation and anger among the local population, with calls for an investigation into the matter, accountability for those responsible, and an immediate halt to any actions that violate the sanctity of cemeteries or target civilians.
