Taiz Journalist Dies After Being Shot in Ambush at Workplace

Journalist Abdul Samad Al-Qadi succumbed to critical injuries sustained during a targeted armed attack in Taiz city on Friday morning, passing away in intensive care at Al-Thawra General Hospital.

Local sources confirmed that Al-Qadi died hours after medical teams attempted life-saving measures, following the assault where an unknown gunman shot him five times before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred at his workplace, previously located in Sinan Roundabout, now known as the Martyr Ibtihal Al-Mashhari Roundabout, an area under the control of security and military apparatus loyal to the Islah Party.

The attack reportedly took place inside a commercial grocery store, with the assailant managing to evade capture due to what sources described as a noticeable absence of security forces intervention.

Activists have placed full responsibility upon the security and military agencies in Taiz for their perceived negligence in apprehending the perpetrator and bringing them to justice.

This fatal incident underscores a severe wave of security breakdown plaguing Taiz, continuing a pattern of violent assaults targeting civilians and journalists within the governorate.
