Masam extracts 1,800 Houthi mines in Yemen during the last week of April
The Masam project, an affiliate of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), which was designed to demine the Yemeni lands, has successfully managed to extract about 1,800 mines planted by the Houthi militia in Yemen during the last week of April.
Masam clarified that the mines that were planted varied between 1,200 anti-tank mines and 638 unexploded ordnances, noting that they had managed to remove 260 anti-tank mines and 75 unexploded ordnance from those mines in Harib district, Yemen.
Masam were able to extract about 158 anti-tank mines in Shabwa governorate, as well as 235 unexploded ordnances in the Ain district, in addition to 208 anti-tank mines in the Asilan district.
Masam said that it has also removed 569 anti-tank mines and 328 unexploded ordnance in the Dhubab district of Taiz, bringing the number of mines cleared during the month of April to about 6,300 mines.
It is worth mentioning that the number of mines that Masam has extracted since the beginning of the project has reached 335,000 mines, which the Houthi militia has planted randomly throughout Yemen to claim more victims from children, women and the elderly.
